Brest hosts Belarus Open Rowing Championships

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – The 2026 Belarus Open Rowing Championships with international participation kicked off in Brest on 1 July, BelTA has learned.

The competition has brought together the country’s top rowers from all regions of Belarus, as well as athletes from Russia and Thailand. More than 180 competitors will contest 12 sets of medals (six for men and six for women). The opening day on 1 July featured preliminary heats in the men’s and women’s single sculls and coxless pairs. Medal races in those events are scheduled for 2 July. The finals in the double sculls and coxless fours will take place on 3 July. The championships will conclude on Saturday with medal races in the eights and quadruple sculls.

The national championships in Brest serve as the main domestic qualifying event for Belarus’ teams ahead of the 2026 continental and world championships. The 2026 European Rowing Championships will be held in Varese, Italy, from 31 July to 2 August. The 2026 World Rowing Championships are scheduled for Amsterdam from 24 to 30 August.
