“The election campaign has already kicked off. I was afraid that Belarusian journalists would reproach me for being too relaxed, for having no fighting spirit. I will tell you later why I am so calm about the current election. It is very important for me. It is fundamental for me,” the head of state said.
"This is not about retaining power. Not at all. I don't see anything wrong with the fact that the parties have nominated their own candidates. These are the essence of the parties. They must assert themselves. The election will show the winner. But they must assert themselves. Therefore, this campaign began normally. It has not yet begun fully. Just the first step has been taken," the Belarusian leader added.
The journalist remarked: "We feel your fighting spirit."
"Well, you feel it because you have been around for many years. We will definitely fight for our Belarus," Aleksandr Lukashenko replied.
